Rising rapper Kevin Fret — widely known as the first openly gay Latin trap artist — has been shot and killed.

According to a report by El Nuevo Dia (which has since been confirmed by Billboard), Kevin Fret was shot at approximately 5:30 a.m. local time this morning. He later died at Medical Center of Río Piedras according to exclaim.ca
