KEiiNO is a Norwegian-Sami collaboration project between the artists Fred Buljo, Alexandra Rotan and Tom Hugo.

In the spirit of Sami National Day (February 6th) and to celebrate it, I want to introduce you to Norwegian-Sami collaboration project KEiiNO – that has the chance to representing Norway in Eurovision. KEiiNO with their tune «Spirit in the Sky» will be one of then newcomers for next week (Week 8) – voting for Week 8 starts this Sunday February 10th 2019.

The Sami population had to fight for acceptance for their culture for a long time, and the theme made it natural to involve a Sami songwriter in the project. Fred Buljo loved the idea and «Spirit in the Sky» came into being. Later they brought the Finnish producer Henrik Tala and then Alexandra Rotan.

This year’s Norwegian final of Melodi Grand Prix will take place in Oslo Spektrum on 2 March, where there are ten contributions that are fighting to become Norway’s representative in Eurovision in May.

After listen to KEiiNO‘s «Spirit in the Sky», I can admit that I haven’t been so excited about Norway’s Eurovison entry since Alexander Rybak‘s «Fairytale». So hopefully the Norwegians will pick KEiiNO as their choice for Eurovision 2019 on 2 March. Fingers crossed!

My next wish for KEiiNO. that they would do a collaboration with Swedish Sami Jon Henrik Fjellgren – that would just create musically magic !
