Returning after a six-year hiatus, Calvin Goldspink prepares to drop his second 2020 single, «The Cold» – via his own Breaking Sound imprint.

Injecting a DIY ethic back into mainstream pop music, Calvin Goldspink weaves a unique perspective into his all-encompassing songwriting. His music draws from a rich tapestry of influences, simultaneously attaching tender strokes of indie and surging with powerful electronica. Written during a tumultuous period living in Los Angeles, his brand-new single, «The Cold» looks for answers buried in uncertainty and reinstates hope of finding out where you belong in the world.

Calvin Goldspink: «We all experience times of transition. When you’re in between jobs, a relationship or just stuck in a rut not knowing what’s next. ‘The Cold’ is about embracing that moment and learning from the mistakes that got you there».

A charismatic and engaging performer, Calvin Goldspink is living his own Cinderella story. Calvin was a part of the successful Simon Fuller/Universal Records franchise S Club, selling 3 million+ records and a TV series under his belt by the age of 15. Two years later, he starred in the CW series, Life Is Wild and had roles in Lifetimes, William & Kate and FOX’s X-Men Origins.

Leaving his British childhood behind, Goldspink wrote his 2014 debut EP, «The Lemon Tree» over the course of four years living in Hollywood. Detaching himself from the mainstream pop world, his experience putting out an independent release proved to be equally fulfilling as was frustrating. He responded by creating Breaking Sound – a music company to support emerging artists from around the world. The goal was to make an accessible and premium performance platform for artists to play live and showcase to industry tastemakers.

Calvin Goldspink: «Having had the chance to see inside the mainstream music industry’s tight bubble, releasing music independently has given me perspective on the areas that need attention. Emerging artists are the source of the entire industry. Breaking Sound provides a platform to help support artists at their inception and has become the mission statement for my team and I to take on».

Breaking Sound has expanded into 10 cities and has featured the likes of Lauv, Sam Fischer and the Marias before they were signed. Over the past year, the company has expanded rapidly with it now accommodating its own radio station (Breaking Sound Radio) and record label (Breaking Sound Records). Though COVID-19 has placed the majority of live music on hold, unprecedented circumstances have paved the way for Goldspink to pursue his own music career once more.
