Melodifestivalen 2022

With Omicron and Covid SVT cancelled this years Melodifestivalen tours, but tonight I wonder why using that excuse I don't understand - nothing say pandemic by watching tonight show at all.

It’s well known that Sweden has had the easiest restrictions in Europe, with only recommendation keep distance, work from home if can and how many people could gather (business needed to follow this)  – but you will certainly find Swedes saying it has been hard restrictions (they were only recommendations so it’s up each person if the want to follow them and not many did).

Malou Prytz – «Bananas»

Not to be excited about, nothing special just an generic pop tune. No winner for Melodifestivalen.

Theoz – «Som Du Vil»

Catchy tune in Swedish and will be popular on Swedish radio, but not a winner of Melodifestivalen. Som Du Vil = Do as you want.

Shirley Clamp – «Let there be angels»

She is a veteran in Melodifestivalen, 10 times she has been someway involved. Classical pop ballad. Unfortunately it never took of, as a good ballad should do !

Omar Rudberg – «Moving Like That»

Young Royals star Omar are back in Melodifestivalen and it’s his third time. It started slow and then the chorus lifted it up and with a catch refrain.

Danne Stråhed – «Hallabaloo»

Classical dansband ( Nordic music genre). It will be popular for 60+ but no winner of Melodifestivalen.

Cornelia Jakobs – «Hold me closer»

Tonights surprise, never hear the artist before, this is tonights best song! Beautiful and special whiskey voice. Love it !

Robin Bengtsson – «Innocent Love»

Catchy tune, not as good as previous songs from Robin.

Cornelia Jakobs and Robin Bengtsson goes directly to final in Melodifestivalen

Danne Stråhed and Theoz goes to semi final – second chance.

Who can resist sweaty Eric Saade ? Not me! Eric did a mashup of all his songs he has competed in Melodifestivalen with.

So Sweden are on the road to find their song to representing Sweden in Eurovision 2022.
