Marcus & Martinus

They came from Norway with the aim of winning over the hearts of the Swedes, and that's exactly what they achieved tonight in Stockholm at the Melodifestivalen final.

They are likely to be in competition with the Norwegian band Gåte at the Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, which will take place in May. Norway must go through the qualifying rounds, while Sweden, being the host country and the previous year’s winner of Eurovision, is already guaranteed a spot in the competition.

Marcus & Martinus, sometimes referred to as M&M, are a Norwegian dance-pop duo composed of identical twin brothers Marcus and Martinus Gunnarsen.

The song «Unforgettable» by Marcus & Martinus, which won the Melodifestivalen (Sweden’s selection for Eurovision), would never have won the Melodi Grand Prix (Norway’s selection for Eurovision) due to too much pop and too little Norwegian cultural representation. This is likely why they chose the Swedish Melodifestivalen over Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix. I completely understand Marcus & Martinus if that was the reason (I would have done the same if given the choice)! Norway appears to be entrenched in Norwegian cultural portrayal, which may explain the extended intervals between each Eurovision victory.

Congratulations Marcus and Martinus! We are so proud of you both for achieving this well-deserved recognition. Your polite and kind nature truly sets you apart as two outstanding individuals from Norway. Keep up the amazing work!
